Illinois Democratic Senate President Don Harmon improperly accepted $4 million more in political contributions than allowed under campaign donation laws he championed years ago, according to the State Board of Elections. In a certified letter sent to Harmon last month following a Chicago Tribune inquiry about Harmon’s fundraising, state election officials said his campaign committee accepted numerous donations within nine months after the March 2024 primary that far exceeded state contribution caps designed to curtail big-money influence in Illinois politics. A spokesman for the Oak Park Democrat confirmed Harmon’s main political campaign fund received the board’s letter but gave little…
NEW YORK — President Donald Trump has launched tariff wars with nearly all of America’s trading partners. And there’s no end in sight. A number of sweeping new taxes on goods from other countries are already here — and more took effect on Wednesday. OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Oak Hill is inviting residents to take part in a memorial bench program that will allow benches to be placed throughout the city’s park system in honor of loved ones. Citizens who purchase a memorial bench may suggest a preferred location within the parks; however, the final decision on placement will be made by the City. This is to prevent overcrowding in areas that may already have existing benches. To request a specific location, purchasers are encouraged to contact Parks and Recreation Director Josh Sapio at [email protected]. To reduce maintenance such as…

PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — What began as a routine patrol turned into a high-speed pursuit on Friday, April 4th, when deputies with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a motorcycle with an unreadable license plate in the White Oak Drive area of Princeton. Around 2:33 p.m., an officer spotted a black motorcycle turning onto Short Street with a registration plate that was not clearly visible. When emergency lights were activated to initiate a traffic stop, the rider accelerated and fled, prompting a chase through neighborhood streets. The suspect led deputies through Short Street to Thornton Avenue, where he…
PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Princeton man is facing multiple charges after using the emergency 911 line not to report a crime or injury — but to demand a tow truck. It all went down on April 5, 2025, at 4:56 p.m., when Mercer County E911 received a bizarre call from a man claiming to be Mark Trail. Trail reportedly dialed the emergency line and urgently requested a wrecker, though he offered little else—unless you count the colorful stream of curse words he hurled at the dispatcher before hanging up. Following policy, dispatchers tried to call him back, only to be…
SMITHERS, WV (LOOTPRESS) — What started as a routine traffic stop for an expired registration quickly escalated into a drug bust and two arrests in Fayette County on Monday, April 7, 2025. As the officer followed the car, the strong odor of marijuana wafted from the vehicle, prompting a traffic stop in the Dollar General parking lot. The driver identified himself as Andrew Godbey, using a West Virginia ID, and the passenger was identified…
PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS)—A woman who was banned from Dollar General was caught shoplifting again in the store. On March 18, 2025, around 10:00 p.m., Corporal N.J. Mason responded to the Dollar General on Beckley Road in Princeton following reports of a familiar face shoplifting — one that wasn’t even supposed to be there. Store employee Abbigayle Collins told dispatchers she witnessed Musick stuffing items into her bag in the detergent aisle and then walking straight out the front door without paying. To make matters worse, Musick had already been trespassed from the store due to a prior incident. Collins noted…
