NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Efforts are underway to improve safety at a busy Luzerne County intersection that’s been the site of numerous crashes in recent years. The intersection in question is located at the boundary of Nanticoke and Newport Township. Principal found not guilty of sexually assaulting student There have been two deadly crashes at the intersection in the last year. The most recent fatal crash occurred last week. Pennsylvania State Police say on Thursday, March 6, troopers discovered 28 dogs after an animal cruelty and dog fighting investigation. A search warrant was issued at a residence in West Hazleton where inside troopers said they found dogs, along with numerous items related animal fighting. According to court officials, after a four-day trial, Roger Weaver Freed, of Cogan Station, was found not guilty on the following charges: Corruption of a minor School intercourse and sexual contact with a student Furnishing liquor to a minor Sexual assault Aggravated assault without consent As stated in the affidavit, in June 2022, the student informed police of a relationship with Freed, claiming it had turned sexual when they were a junior…
