NORTH CAROLINA (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A new bill presented in Raleigh looks to legalize marijuana throughout North Carolina. House Bill 413 is authored by State Rep. Jordan Lopez, a Mecklenburg County Democrat. “This is something that people are using every single day, regardless of its current status or legality and there are real benefits for folks who are dealing with chronic issues, pain, sickness, but then are real benefits also to our state revenue,” said Lopez. The legislation would allow adults over the age of 21 to possess, use, and even grow cannabis within a private residence, up to a…
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jefferson County Public Schools will merge two elementary schools next school year. Whitney Young Elementary School will move two miles away and merge into Engelhard Elementary School. The school board approved the plan Tuesday night. The move opens up the current building Whitney Young students are in, so sixth grade students at Hudson Middle School can go there. Seventh and eighth graders at Hudson will stay in their current building on Muhammad Ali Boulevard. District leaders said enrollment is low at both elementary schools. “It was two years in the making to get them…
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A police investigation is now underway into a southern Indiana business and its promise to give the proceeds from a T-shirt fundraiser to the family of the 18-year-old boy who was shot and killed at Harvest Homecoming last year. It’s the shirt everyone was wearing on Senior Night in honor of Bryce Gerlach on Oct. 18, 2024. “The amount of love and people showing up for the Gerlachs was astonishing,” Brandy Ayers, who bought one of the shirts, said. The T-shirt, in Bryce’s favorite color blue, says “Forever in Our Hearts” and were created by Tower’s…
LOUISVLLE, Ky. (WDRB) — As part of a wide-ranging bill approved last week, state lawmakers aimed to make sales tax incentives available to the promoters of Louisville’s popular Bourbon & Beyond festival and similar events. House Bill 775 includes rebates for some music festivals in Louisville and Lexington that run for at least two straight days and bring in 60,000 people. Those attractions could receive half of the Kentucky sales taxes generated on admissions, food and drink. But contrary to public statements, Bourbon & Beyond and Louder Than Life do not qualify for the incentives under the current version of…

Justin Eichorn Minesota, Arrest: On March 17, 2025, Minnesota State Senator Justin Eichorn, a Republican from the state’s 5th district, was arrested in Bloomington, Minnesota, on charges related to soliciting a minor for prostitution. Eichorn, 40, was allegedly communicating with a person he believed to be a 16-year-old girl, who, in reality, was an undercover detective. His arrest has sent shockwaves through both the political community and the public, particularly because it followed the introduction of a controversial bill that he co-sponsored earlier the same day. The bill in question, dubbed the “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (TDS) bill, sought to define extreme…

DALLAS (AP) — More than 63,000 pages of records related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration posted to its website roughly 2,200 files containing the documents. The vast majority of the National Archives’ collection of over 6 million pages of records, photographs, motion pictures, sound recordings and artifacts related to the assassination have previously been released. Larry J. Sabato, director of the University of Virginia…
