MARION, OH — Tragedy struck the rural community of Marengo, Ohio, on Memorial Day as a Morrow County Sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence call. The slain officer, Deputy Daniel Sherrer, 31, was pronounced dead Monday evening after sustaining fatal gunshot wounds during a violent confrontation at a residence on County Road 26.
