
BRUCETON MILLS, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Just in time for last-minute Memorial Day weekend getaways, West Virginia State Parks has announced that an expanded section of the McCollum Campground at Coopers Rock State Forest is now open and available for reservations, earlier than originally anticipated.
The expansion adds 25 new campsites to McCollum Campground, bringing the total to 50. Each new site is equipped with 50-amp electric service, water hookups, a picnic table, fire ring and grill, ideal for RVs, trailers, 5th wheels, tents and van campers.
“These new campsites are a great addition to one of our popular state forests and come at the perfect time for campers looking to make the most of a long holiday weekend,” said Brett McMillion, Director of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. “Whether you’re coming for the scenic views, hiking trails, or just a peaceful night under the stars, Coopers Rock has something for everyone.”
The campground store offers firewood, ice and other essentials to help make your stay comfortable. Campsites may be reserved online at wvstateparks.comor by calling 833-WVPARKS. Reservations must be for at least two consecutive nights on weekends (Friday and Saturday) or a single night Sunday through Thursday.
Established in 1936, Coopers Rock State Forest is located just off I-68, approximately 13 miles from Morgantown. It features iconic canyon overlooks, historic sites, sandstone cliffs for climbing, 50 miles of hiking and biking trails, cross-country skiing terrain, trout fishing and nearby whitewater rafting.
