
BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — The Raleigh County Veterans and First Responders Museum will honor Memorial Day with a full weekend of events, open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (May 24–26). The museum, located at 201 South Eisenhower Drive, invites community members to visit its many historical displays and enjoy raffles for unique items and gifts. Admission is free, though donations are welcome.
In partnership with American Legion Post 32, the weekend will also feature solemn tributes at the Veterans Cemetery, celebrating and remembering those who served. Below is the complete schedule of activities:
Memorial Day Weekend Schedule
Saturday, May 24

9 a.m. – Flag placement at headstones, Veterans Cemetery
Volunteers are invited to help place flags in honor of local veterans. Coffee, hot cocoa, and doughnuts will be provided. -
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Museum open to visitors
Sunday, May 25

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Museum open to visitors

8 p.m. – Candlelight Service, Veterans Cemetery
Includes a short patriotic concert by the Salvation Army’s Beckley Brass Band, followed by placing candles on each headstone. Some seating and refreshments will be available.
Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day)

“This weekend is about reflection, gratitude, and community,” said Ron Hedrick, a representative of the museum. “We welcome everyone to come out, support our veterans and first responders, and honor the legacy of those who gave their lives in service.”
