LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Kentucky Expo Center has reopened Gate 4 on Crittenden Drive just in time for graduation ceremonies.
The newly-renovated Gate 4 now offers a modern, expanded entrance along Crittenden Drive. It features six lanes, up from just three, nine new digital signs and the largest car line-up space of any of the other gates.
The new gate also includes a walkup booth and extended pedestrian walkway to Crittenden Drive.
The old gate on the northwest side of the property was more than 50 years old and now provides a 21st century welcome, similar to Gates 1 & 6.
Gate 2 is the final entrance scheduled for renovation, which is expected to begin in the fall to minimize impact to the guest experience. Additionally, the Kentucky Exposition Center will implement new payment technology at gates in June to expedite entry and make processing easier for guests.
All of the updates are part of a larger initiative to modernize and expand the Kentucky Exposition Center, solidifying it as a premier facility for major events.
Phase I of Kentucky Venues more than $460 million expansion and renovation is already underway, with the recently completed demolition of Newmarket Hall. A new 350,000-square-foot, multi-purpose facility will be constructed in its place.
