SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – For the first time, Summers County has a dedicated kennel building for its animal control program — a real, purpose-built shelter for stray and abandoned dogs who have nowhere else to go.
Gone are the days of temporary crates in garages or makeshift spaces in barns.
This new facility represents a major step forward for the Humane Society, providing a safe haven for scared, neglected, and unwanted animals.
But the organization says the building alone isn’t enough.
“We’re missing the basics,” the humane society stated in a Facebook post. “Cleaning supplies, leashes, toys, even trash bags.”
The Humane Society is asking the public to help stock the shelter with essential items to care for the dogs who end up in their care through no fault of their own.
A public Amazon wishlist has been created to make donating easy: https://a.co/c7fkqxs.
Even a single donated item can make a meaningful difference, they added — not just for the animals, but for the people working to give them a second chance.
