Waukegan police said they are investigating a fatal shooting that took place Thursday.
The incident happened Thursday afternoon in the 400 block of North Sheridan Road, near the Grand Avenue intersection, police said Friday. Deputy Chief Scott Chastain said that someone was shot numerous times as he sat in a vehicle, and that he succumbed to his injuries.
Citing the ongoing investigation, Chastain declined to release additional details.
The identity of the victim was expected to be released by the Lake County Coroner’s Office, following the completion of an autopsy and formal notification to next of kin.
