HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A federal immigration enforcement action was reported to have taken place Friday morning at a Huntington restaurant, according to a public statement made by City Councilwoman Ally Layman.
Layman said the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid occurred at Taste of Asia on 3rd Avenue, a restaurant that has been a long-standing presence in the community. She reported that at least three individuals were arrested and that the business is currently closed until further notice.
In her statement, Layman said ICE agents were present at the restaurant as employees arrived to begin their workday, and that workers were detained during that time. She described the individuals involved as long-term community members who were “simply showing up for their jobs.”
“This isn’t just about those who were taken today,” Layman wrote. “Everyone who works at Taste of Asia is affected.”
Layman framed the incident as part of a broader pattern of immigration enforcement occurring at workplaces across the country, including restaurants, farms, factories, and construction sites.
No official statement from ICE or federal authorities has yet been released regarding the reported incident.
Taste of Asia remained closed Friday afternoon, and it was not immediately clear when the restaurant would reopen.
