
OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Oak Hill Police Department responded to a shooting on Wednesday evening that left one man injured and another facing multiple felony charges.
At approximately 6:11 p.m. on June 12, 2025, officers were dispatched to a residence at 402 Johnson Street following a report of a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, the victim told investigators that Brian Kinley, of Oak Hill, had drawn a firearm and shot him, striking him in both the hand and shoulder.
Kinley reportedly fled the scene and went to another residence. A short time later, a female individual returned to the original scene with Kinley, who was then taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, Kinley did not have the firearm in his possession.
Authorities called for assistance from the Oak Hill Police Department’s K-9 unit and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 unit. After an extensive search, K-9 Officer Apollo located the firearm used in the shooting a distance away from the scene.
Kinley has been charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Malicious Wounding, both felony offenses. The investigation remains active, and the Oak Hill Police Department is encouraging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
