LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Jefferson County Clerk’s Office is warning people about fraudulent text messages impersonating the DMV.
According to a news release Monday, people have received text messages impersonating DMV Enforcement or EZpass Collections. The Jefferson County Clerk’s Office doesn’t send those messages.
The clerk’s office said it’s best to contact the organization directly using verified contact information. Legitimate agencies will never ask for personal information like Social Security number or bank details via text messages.
“By staying vigilant and informed, you can protect yourself and others from falling victim to these deceptive tactics,” the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office released in a statement.
