PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Princeton man is facing serious charges after allegedly giving his juvenile stepson crack cocaine, prompting a police and Child Protective Services investigation.
According to the Princeton Police Department, officers responded to a report of a runaway juvenile around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, near Meador Street and Park Avenue. Cpl. E.D. Leftwich located the boy—identified only as a known juvenile—crying and stating he did not want to return home. The boy claimed his stepfather, Christopher Dale Morgan, had given him crack to smoke.
The child reportedly showed police a photo of Morgan’s hand next to what appeared to be crack cocaine, along with a video allegedly showing Morgan lighting a crack pipe in the boy’s mouth.
Officers brought the boy to the police department and contacted both Morgan and the child’s mother, Heather Marie Morgan, who voluntarily came in for questioning.
During an interview, police say Christopher Morgan admitted to providing the crack and lighting it for the child, also naming others who were present, including a woman he identified as Donna Hamilton, later confirmed as Donna Comer.
Heather Morgan, the boy’s mother, also spoke with police. According to the report, she admitted to being aware of the drug use and acknowledged that her failure to act amounted to neglect. Comer was also living in the home at the time and is accused of failing to protect the child.
The juvenile was turned over to Rachel Hatfield with West Virginia Child Protective Services.
Police say warrants will be sought through the Mercer County Magistrate’s Office for Christopher Morgan, Heather Morgan, and Donna Comer, all of whom are accused of endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities continue to investigate, and additional charges may follow.
