RONCEVERTE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Incumbent Mayor Deena Pack secured another term leading the City of Ronceverte, winning Tuesday’s municipal election with 88 votes, outpacing three challengers in a closely watched race.
Pack defeated David Withrow, who received 77 votes, followed by Shawn Honaker with 48 votes, and Kim Erskinewith 42 votes.
In the race for two open City Council seats, voters chose two newcomers. Emilee White led the field with 120 votes, while Matt Bergman won the second seat with 93 votes. Incumbent Scott Voglesong fell just short with 90 votes, ending his time on council. Trey Rogers received 67 votes, followed by write-in candidates Eric Mercer with 34 votes and Monique Molina with 10 votes.
Council members serve two-year terms.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Ronceverte has a population of 1,572, but turnout in this year’s municipal election was low, with only 255 voters casting ballots.
Despite the light turnout, the election brought notable changes to the city’s leadership, including fresh perspectives on council and the continuation of Pack’s administration.
The new council will be seated later this month.
