LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 30-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday in connection to a shooting at a motel on Preston Highway, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD said a shooting happened in the 4700 block of Preston Highway May 26 around 12:43 a.m. That’s where a 25-year-old man was shot in the hand before the suspects fled prior to police arriving on scene.
Eugene Sanders, 54, was arrested Monday and charged with assault, burglary and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, according to police. Kortney Lowe, 30, was also arrested and charged with first degree and second degree assault.
According to court documents, Sanders and Lowe approached the 25-year-old man at Red Roof Inn in the 4700 block of Preston Highway and Lowe hit the victim in the head with a blunt object.
Police said a fight then broke out between Sanders, another suspect and the victim. The fight moved into the victim’s room and Sanders shot the victim in the hand, according to court documents.
Lowe, Sanders and another suspect fled the scene after the shooting. The incident was captured on surveillance video.
The victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the left hand and swelling to his right eye.
