BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – In response to a call for funding support, fans of S. D. Smith’s Green Ember series rallied to the cause, backing the newest project’s Kickstarter with over $250,000—far exceeding the goal set. After the surprise announcement that the next title would not be just a book, but also a video game, families from around the globe pledged an average of $96.12 to raise the necessary funds to ensure the project moved forward.
Green Ember: Helmer in the Dragon Tomb, both the game and the book, was written by S. D. Smith, author of the million-selling titles for kids. The series originated with The Green Ember back in 2015; Helmer marks the twelfth book in the series. The plot of this book and game provides the origin story for one of the series’ most beloved characters.
For the video game, Story Warren chose to enlist the help of Brazen Animation, creator of content for organizations such as Nintendo, Hasbro, ESPN, the NFL, the NBA, Warner Brothers, Riot Games, and EA. In order to fund the project, the company called on its community of fans for support. Incredibly, over 2600 people answered the call.
At the conclusion of the funding drive, the project held several records on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter. Most notably, it finished as the fifth all-time most funded in the category “Children’s Publishing.” The company is aiming for a Fall 2025 release for both the book and the game.
