
BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A fatal crash early Saturday morning left one man dead and another hospitalized after their vehicle collided with a residence on Winchester Avenue.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded at approximately 2:08 a.m. on May 31 to a report of a vehicle that had struck a structure near Giles Mill Road.
Upon arrival, officers found a 2019 Toyota Camry that had veered off the roadway and crashed into the foundation of a home.
Two adult males were inside the vehicle.
The passenger, identified as Ayberk Timur, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment.
Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle had been traveling northbound on Winchester Avenue in an aggressive and reckless manner when it lost control, left the roadway, and struck the home.
Investigators believe excessive speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. The next of kin has been notified.
