
MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office has launched an active death investigation following the discovery of human remains in a wooded area between Scott Avenue and Smithtown Road.
Construction workers made the discovery on Monday, prompting deputies to respond to the scene. Detectives were later called in to begin an initial investigation. The identity of the deceased remains unknown at this time.
The body has been transported to the West Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Charleston for autopsy and identification.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Mon EMS, Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, MECCA Emergency Management, Morgantown Police Department, and Triton Construction.
