GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – It’s a new day for air travel in the Greenbrier Valley! Greenbrier Valley Airport (LWB) officially launched its new nonstop flight to Chicago, and the occasion was marked with a high-flying celebration and a traditional water cannon salute for the inaugural Contour Airlines arrival.
Excited travelers, community leaders, and airport staff gathered to welcome the flight from Chicago, cheering as the aircraft passed under twin arcs of water, a time-honored aviation tradition. Thanks to some perfect timing—and a little sunshine—the salute created a picture-perfect rainbow, adding extra magic to the milestone.
“This is a big moment for Greenbrier Valley Airport and the entire region,” said airport officials. “We’re thrilled to offer this convenient new connection to one of the country’s busiest travel hubs.”
A big shoutout went to Trish Roberts and Matt Wyant from the airport team for expertly operating the water trucks during the salute. Their coordination helped create the stunning scene that kicked off the route with style.
This new service opens the door for easier business travel, weekend getaways, and seamless connections across the country, all from the heart of the Greenbrier Valley.
