BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A staff member at Musselman Middle School has been arrested and charged with multiple sex-related crimes, according to a statement released Friday by Berkeley County Schools Superintendent Dr. Ryan Saxe.
The school system received a serious allegation on Wednesday, May 28, involving the staff member, later identified as Mr. Luke Seno.
Following standard district procedures, Seno was immediately placed on administrative leave.
Authorities including the Department of Health & Human Resources, local law enforcement, and the West Virginia Department of Education were promptly notified.
Dr. Saxe confirmed that Seno has since been arrested and charged with several offenses, including multiple counts of sexual assault, soliciting a minor via telephone, and sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust.
“As Superintendent, I am appalled and deeply troubled by the situation,” Saxe said in his public statement. “This is not something we will ever ignore, minimize, or tolerate. Every student deserves to feel safe and respected, and we have an unwavering obligation to protect them.”
Saxe credited staff members at the school for bringing the concerns forward, stating that their actions allowed the district to act swiftly.
He emphasized the importance of speaking up when something appears wrong, saying, “See something, say something is more than a phrase—it is an expectation and a responsibility we all share.”
Saxe says Berkeley County Schools is cooperating fully with law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
District officials say they will take additional steps as needed, in accordance with school policy and legal guidance, depending on the outcome of the case.
Due to the sensitivity of the matter and the need to protect student privacy, the school district has said it cannot release additional details at this time.
Community members with relevant information are urged to contact local authorities.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment for every student in Berkeley County Schools,” said Saxe.
Luke Seno is currently at Eastern Regional Jail on a $1,500,000 cash-only bond.
