SCARBRO, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A routine patrol on Memorial Day ended in a major arrest when a Fayette County man with a long history of DUI offenses was pulled over and taken into custody on multiple charges, including third-offense DUI and fraudulent vehicle registration.
On Monday, May 26, 2025, an officer on patrol observed a red Chevy Silverado traveling along Scarbro Road with a defective brake light. A traffic stop was initiated near WV Route 612, where the driver, Freddie McCallister, 52, admitted he had no license and was revoked for DUI.
As McCallister appeared to reach for a pocket knife clipped to his pants, he was detained for safety. A background check revealed ten active DUI revocations on his record dating back to 1990, along with five implied consents, six unpaid citations, and a mandatory insurance violation.
Further inspection revealed the truck’s license plate was registered to a 2013 Nissan Cube, and the inspection stickerbelonged to yet another vehicle. A VIN check confirmed the vehicle was actually a 2007 Chevy Silverado.
At the WVSP Oak Hill Detachment, McCallister failed multiple field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. He later admitted to drinking alcohol before driving.
McCallister now faces a stack of charges, including:
