His untimely passing has left the community reeling and devastated. Zach’s life, though tragically cut short, was one filled with adventure, love, and laughter. His radiant spirit, infectious humor, and unwavering generosity touched the hearts of everyone who knew him, making his loss deeply felt across multiple communities—family, friends, colleagues, and strangers alike.
Zach was born on January 22, 1999, in Murray, Utah, to Jeremy and Jennifer Wright. As the firstborn child, Zach quickly took on the role of big brother, a position he cherished and embraced with love and pride. His younger siblings, Anna, Griffin, Jane, Lincoln, and Talmage, were lucky to have him as a guiding and protective presence in their lives. Zach’s early years were marked by an innate curiosity, a deep sense of warmth, and a gentle leadership that would continue to define him throughout his life.
Even as a toddler, Zach displayed a keen sense of imagination. He would read aloud to his dog, Max, an early sign of his creative nature and a glimpse into the joy he found in sharing. Max was his first companion, and Zach’s bond with him laid the foundation for the deep connections he would later form with people in his life. His love for animals and his gentle spirit made him a friend to everyone, and Max was the first of many in Zach’s life to feel that special, unconditional affection.
Zach’s childhood was filled with energy and boundless enthusiasm for outdoor exploration. He was never content to stay indoors; he preferred the great outdoors and had an affinity for hiking and exploring. As a young child, he hiked towering peaks like Half Dome in Yosemite and Delicate Arch in Arches National Park. By the time many kids were still learning to ride bikes, Zach was already an avid adventurer, leaving the adults in his dust as he rode his mountain bike across trails and through forests. His determination and adventurous spirit were evident from a young age and only grew as he matured.
Zach’s outdoor passion did not just make him an adventurer but a leader. In 2013, he became an Eagle Scout, a reflection of his commitment, discipline, and leadership abilities. But Zach’s adventures didn’t stop with camping trips and merit badges. He turned his love for the outdoors into a career, working as a whitewater rafting guide, ski patrolman, and in avalanche mitigation. Whether it was guiding others on trips or leading spontaneous adventures, Zach made outdoor exploration a shared experience. Safety, fun, and connection were always his top priorities, and he ensured that everyone he guided had an unforgettable, safe adventure.
From November 2017 to November 2019, Zach served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oaxaca, Mexico. His time as a missionary was not just about fulfilling his religious duties but about embodying the values of love, compassion, and humility. Zach’s mission was marked by his humor, sincerity, and deep faith. He was known to bring joy to everyone he met while remaining deeply committed to his service. Zach’s life was a reflection of his commitment to others, always putting their needs first, and his time in Mexico helped solidify the kind of person he was: a humble servant of others, always ready to lend a hand or offer a listening ear.
As a teenager, Zach’s cleverness and industriousness began to show through in his entrepreneurial ventures. He had a natural knack for problem-solving, and he applied it to everything from fixing cars to restoring broken items. Whether it was buying, fixing, and selling cars or selling solar panels, Zach always had a project, and his inventive approach meant that he worked smarter, not harder. His ability to turn seemingly useless objects into valuable treasures was legendary among his family and friends. His business instincts took him to California, where he met Annie Summerhays, the love of his life. Their connection was immediate, and it didn’t take long for them to realize they were meant to be together.
Zach and Annie’s bond was built on a foundation of shared dreams, mutual respect, and unshakable devotion. The two were married in the Bountiful Temple on September 15, 2023, and soon after, they purchased their first home in Thayne, Wyoming, nestled in the breathtaking beauty of Star Valley. Their home was filled with laughter, hard work, and a shared hope for the future. Zach was the kind of husband who always prioritized his family and made sure his home was a place of comfort, support, and love.
Zach’s ability to form deep and lasting friendships was one of his most remarkable qualities. His network of close friends spanned a wide range of ages and backgrounds, a testament to his rare ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. Zach was loyal, open, and incredibly kind. He had a gift for making others feel safe, understood, and always welcome. His friendships were not bound by time or distance, and his loyalty was unwavering. It was his love for people and his ability to connect that made him a friend to so many.
Known for his contagious smile, quick wit, and playful spirit, Zach made life a little lighter for everyone around him. He had a rare gift for bringing joy to others, often through pranks, jokes, and stories. Zach never hesitated to laugh at himself if it meant making someone else smile. His playful demeanor and ability to make light of difficult situations left a legacy of joy, and his friends will forever cherish the memories of his pranks and jokes that made life a little brighter.
Zach was also a creative soul with a passion for music and the arts. He played both guitar and piano, crafted pottery, and had an eye for photography. His love for capturing the beauty of life, whether through snapshots of mission moments or photos of his furry friends, helped Zach express himself and share his creativity with others. Zach lived fully and worked hard to bring his dreams to life, whether through his business ventures or his creative pursuits.
Above all, Zach was a man who loved deeply. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, and friend. Zach offered the best hugs—often followed by a mischievous prank—and never hesitated to help others, whether it was strangers on the side of the road or friends in need. He believed in people, and his belief in others made them believe in him. Zach’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and kindness.
Zach is survived by his loving wife, Annie; parents, Jeremy and Jennifer; siblings Anna (Max), Griffin, Jane, Lincoln, and Talmage; grandparents; an extensive network of aunts, uncles, cousins (including 53 first cousins); his loyal dog, Fridge; and a community of countless friends. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Christine Wright.

Viewings will be held at the Sandy Utah West Stake Center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 220 East 8680 South, Sandy, Utah, on Friday, May 30, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., and Saturday, May 31, from 9:30–10:30 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Zach’s passing leaves an immense void, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His love for life, his creativity, and his unwavering commitment to others will continue to inspire everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
