BARBOUR COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic dispute ended in an arrest yesterday when Barbour County deputies responded to a residence on Shearerwood Drive.
According to authorities, Deputy Williams arrived at 423 Shearerwood Drive on May 27, 2025, after receiving reports of a domestic altercation between Timothy Adkins and his wife.
Upon arrival, the deputy reportedly heard a physical altercation in progress. When Deputy Williams knocked on the partially open door, it swung open to reveal Mr. Adkins, who allegedly approached the officer in what was described as an “irate and aggressive manner,” leading to his immediate restraint.
Inside the residence, officers observed signs of a struggle and noted that the victim appeared both emotionally and physically distressed. According to police reports, Mr. Adkins smelled of alcohol and was allegedly inebriated at the time of the incident.
The victim told authorities that her husband had pushed her onto a couch, attempted to remove her pants, and restricted her breathing by placing his forearm across her throat. Officers documented marks on the victim’s hands and neck consistent with her account.
Neighbors interviewed by police reported hearing the disturbance, including pleas from the victim to “get off of me” while Mr. Adkins reportedly responded with “come on.”
Timothy Adkins was arrested and charged with one count of strangulation. He has been transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
