LEWIS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Jane Lew man has been arrested following the suspicious death of an infant in Lewis County, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Troopers from the Weston Detachment responded to a residence in the McWhorter area on Sunday, May 25, after receiving reports of an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, authorities began an investigation, and the infant was later pronounced dead.
An autopsy was conducted, and the results are contributing to the ongoing investigation, officials said.
On Tuesday, May 27, troopers arrested 28-year-old Zachary J. Williams without incident. He has been charged with Murder and Child Abuse Resulting in Death and is currently being held at the Central Regional Jail.
Authorities say the investigation remains active. No further details are being released at this time.
