The arrest follows an investigation initiated after a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, conducted the investigation leading to Williams’ arrest.
Second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, as defined under North Carolina General Statute §14-190.17, involves knowingly duplicating, distributing, or possessing material that contains a visual representation of a minor engaged in sexual activity. This offense is classified as a Class E felony in North Carolina, carrying a potential prison sentence of up to 88 months, depending on the defendant’s prior criminal history.
Williams is currently being held at the Rockingham County Detention Facility under a secured bond. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details at this time.
