HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A domestic disturbance late Wednesday night led to the arrest of a Huntington man after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend multiple times during a heated argument fueled by alcohol.
Just before midnight on May 14, 2025, officers responded to a home on Jefferson Avenue in Cabell County after receiving a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers encountered two women sitting on the front porch. One of them explained that she and her boyfriend, identified as Keival Kelley, had been drinking earlier in the evening when a verbal argument broke out during a walk to a local gas station.
The argument reportedly escalated inside the Speedway gas station on Madison Avenue, where Kelley allegedly struck her in the head multiple times. The conflict continued as the pair walked home, culminating in a second physical altercation once inside their residence. The woman reported being hit in the head several more times, though she was unsure of the exact number due to shielding herself.
Officers observed visible injuries, including swelling and redness around her right eye. She declined medical treatment but expressed fear that Kelley might harm her again once released from jail.
Inside the home, officers found Kelley lying in bed and detected a strong smell of alcohol. When approached, he became aggressive and repeatedly demanded to be taken to jail. After several attempts to calm him down, officers placed him under arrest for domestic battery.
Kelley was transported to Huntington Police Department headquarters for processing. Officers advised the victim to contact the Cabell County Magistrate’s Office to file a Domestic Violence Protective Order (DVP).
