BOONE, NC (LOOTPRESS) — U.S. Representative Virginia Foxx has officially announced her campaign for reelection in North Carolina’s 5th Congressional District in the 2026 midterm elections — and she’s kicking things off with a major endorsement: former President Donald J. Trump.
In a statement released on social media, Foxx declared her intent to continue championing conservative values and advancing Trump’s “America First” agenda.
“I don’t know about you, but I am definitely not tired of winning!” Foxx wrote. “I am pleased to announce that I will be running for reelection in the 2026 midterms to continue fighting for North Carolina’s Fifth Congressional District and President Trump’s America First agenda!”
Foxx, a longtime GOP incumbent known for her strong stances on education, budget reform, and immigration, has held her seat since 2005 and is widely recognized as a key ally of the former president in Congress.
In response, Trump offered his full backing for Foxx’s reelection bid, calling her “a fighter for the people of North Carolina” and praising her loyalty to conservative principles and her consistent support for his initiatives during his administration and beyond.
“With President Trump in the White House and Republicans maintaining their majorities, the sky is the limit on what we can accomplish for the American People,” Foxx added. “Let’s keep this seat RED in 2026!”
North Carolina’s 5th District, which spans the northwestern corner of the state, has been a GOP stronghold for decades. Foxx’s bid, coupled with Trump’s endorsement, signals a strong push to mobilize conservative voters early in the campaign season.
The 2026 midterms are expected to be fiercely contested as Republicans aim to maintain or grow their influence in both chambers of Congress, particularly alongside Trump’s bid to return to the presidency.
