A man was issued a felony citation Friday after attempting to obtain merchandise by impersonating an officer from Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control.
According to a news release Friday, Amjad Said Albakri visited a local business while posing as an ABC officer and tried to solicit $8,000 in merchandise “in exchange for favorable treatment.”
The business owner then reported the incident which prompted an investigation by the Shively Police Department and Metro ABC.
“This individual attempted to exploit the authority of law enforcement for personal gain,” ABC Director Brad Silveria said in a news release. “We take impersonation and attempted fraud very seriously, and we’re grateful to our partners at the Shively Police Department for their collaboration in bringing this case forward.”
Albakri faces charges including impersonating a peace officer.
“The Shively Police Department is committed to addressing crime within our city and working alongside our law enforcement partners to ensure that our citizens and businesses are protected from exploitation,” said Major Andre’ Bottoms Sr. of the Shively Police Department in a news release.
