HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Two individuals were caught exiting a Hinton residence where they had no permission to enter after a neighbor reported suspicious activity on the property.
On May 3, 2025, at approximately 11:32 a.m., Patrolman J.J. Crawford responded to a trespassing complaint at 126 Main Street, where a green Toyota RAV4 was reported parked behind a home whose owner was out of town.
Upon arrival, Officer Crawford located Amber Nicole Yancy and Joel Franklin Price coming out of the residence. The pair claimed they were retrieving property for a friend and had loaded items into their vehicle.
After contacting the homeowner, police confirmed neither Yancy nor Price had permission to be on the property — and Hicks did not know them. A search of the vehicle uncovered several items belonging to Hicks, including tile boxes and stair balusters valued at approximately $850.
Yancy and Price admitted the front door was unlocked and said they did not forcibly enter the home. Charges are pending based on their admission and the recovery of stolen property.
