FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Hope Gas, Inc. has filed a request with the Public Service Commission of West Virginia to raise its natural gas rates by approximately 40.95%, generating an estimated $79.6 million in additional annual revenue if approved.
The proposed rate increase would affect residential, commercial, and industrial customers across 39 counties, including Kanawha, Raleigh, Monongalia, Mercer, Wood, and Wyoming counties, among others.
The new rates are scheduled to take effect on May 30, 2025, unless delayed or modified by the Commission. Affected customer groups include:

Former Peoples Gas WV LLC

Former Southern Public Service Company

Former Standard/Bazzle Gas Company

Former Consumers Gas Utility

Production Gathering and Aggregation Service (PGAS)

Hope Gas’s existing customer base
Various customer classes—ranging from small general service to large industrial users—will see average monthly bills increase, though exact changes will vary depending on usage and customer category.
Resale customers, such as Cardinal Natural Gas Company and Mountaineer Gas Company, are also affected.

The rate changes are subject to approval, and the Commission may increase, decrease, or modify the proposed rates following its review.
