CULLODEN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Culloden man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a woman and threatening her life during a violent domestic incident late Sunday night.
Deputies were dispatched to a home on Benedict Road in Cabell County around 10:10 p.m. after a 911 call was made reporting an active assault. Dispatchers could reportedly hear threats being made and the victim being attacked before the call was disconnected. The suspect was also believed to have access to firearms inside the home.
Upon arrival, deputies found a woman bleeding and visibly injured standing on the porch with another man. The two informed officers that the suspect had fled on foot after spotting the approaching patrol cars.
A search of the area led deputies to find 33-year-old Jeremy Jeffers hiding in tall grass between two nearby buildings. Due to his size, Jeffers had to be secured using two sets of handcuffs before being placed in the patrol vehicle.
Inside the residence, deputies observed signs of a violent struggle, including bloodstains in the bedroom. The victim had multiple injuries to her face and arms, including heavy bruising and a bleeding nose, consistent with defensive wounds. She declined EMS at the scene but stated she would seek medical treatment.
According to statements gathered on-site, the incident began after a verbal argument between Jeffers and the victim escalated. Jeffers allegedly accused her of infidelity, kicked in the bedroom door while she was calling 911, and struck her repeatedly in the head with a closed fist. Witnesses at the scene corroborated the victim’s account and provided written statements.
During a search of the home, deputies recovered a 9mm handgun, ammunition, and a pocket knife believed to belong to Jeffers. The items were seized and logged as evidence.
Jeffers was transported to Western Regional Jail and is being held pending arraignment. He faces charges of Domestic Assault, Domestic Battery, and Fleeing.
