CEDAR GROVE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An 18-year-old Cedar Grove resident died early Friday morning after being hit by a train while walking on the tracks.
According to the West Virginia State Police, Tony Burdette was walking northbound on the railroad tracks near Williams Street around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, when a northbound Kanawha River Railroad train struck him.
Authorities say Burdette did not move off the tracks in time.
Emergency crews from the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority treated Burdette at the scene and transported him to CAMC General Hospital.
He succumbed to his injuries at approximately 5:00 a.m. Friday morning.
